Katie joins us a former Wingate University player, where she was a two-year starter at setter playing on four NCAA Tournament teams, including two that reached the Elite Eight. Katie was also named to the NCAA All Region Academic team. Katie is also an All State volleyball player and 2021 Conference Player of the Year at Marvin Ridge HS where she played on their NCHSAA state championship team.
Katie brings a passion for volleyball, a deep understanding of the game and a desire to help players grow to their fullest potential as a person and a player.
Darbi Chestnut has been working at UA since the fall of 2021 when she started in Middle School Physical Education. She now teaches High School Physical Education and Weightlifting. Coach Chestnut graduated from North Greenville University in 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Science with a concentration in Exercise Science. While at North Greenville University, she also played 4 years of college softball.
Coach Chestnut is currently serving as the Head Varsity Softball coach and Assistant Varsity Volleyball coach. Coach Chestnut loves lifting weights and working out and spending time with family and friends.
Jessica is a former Pfeiffer University volleyball player who graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Educational Studies and Psychology. She is excited to begin her first year at Union Academy as a 4th grade teacher and JV volleyball coach. Jessica brings valuable experience from coaching at the JV level at Providence High School and at the club level with CUVC. Her favorite part of coaching is building meaningful relationships with her players and watching them grow in their fundamental skills both on and off the court.
