Jim Chaffin brings over 35 years of baseball coaching experience to Union County, working with athletes of all ages and skill levels. His roots in the local baseball community include a 10-year tenure as Head Coach of the Sun Valley Middle School Baseball Program, where he focused on developing fundamentals of baseball and discipline.
A devoted family man, Jim is married to his wife Nina and is the proud father of four children: Codey (wife Ashlynn), Brady (wife Jodi), Archer, and Elliot. Archer and Elliot currently attend Union Academy, where they are in the 6th and 3rd grades, respectively. Jim is also a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Brinley and Dakota.
He believes coaching goes beyond the field and takes pride in helping guide athletes as they grow both as players and as young men and develop positive relationships with his players. His goal is to work closely with the High School Baseball Coach and to make the Middle School program a great feeder program for the High School.
