Union Academy senior Stephen Gonzales has signed with the Michigan State Spartans to continue his football career as a collegiate kicker. Gonzales leaves Union Academy as the school’s all-time record holder for place kickers and one of the most consistent specialists in program history.

During his career at Union Academy, Gonzales delivered both accuracy and power in pressure-filled moments. He finished with a 100% extra point percentage and converted 10 of 16 field goal attempts, including a career-long 57-yard field goal. As a senior, he connected on long kicks of 55, 53, and 53 yards, showcasing his range and reliability.

Gonzales also made a significant impact on kickoffs, recording 30 touchbacks on 36 kickoffs while averaging 75 yards per kickoff. His production made him a consistent scoring threat, as he led the team in scoring with 56 points.

Head Coach Mason Sledge praised Gonzales’ contributions and character, stating, “Stephen is one of the most dependable athletes I’ve ever coached. His consistency, confidence, and ability to perform under pressure set him apart. Whether it was a clutch field goal or flipping the field on kickoffs, he delivered every time. Michigan State is getting not only an elite kicker, but an even better young man.”

Union Academy congratulates Stephen Gonzales on this achievement and looks forward to watching him compete at the next level.
